A PUPIL at Haddington Primary School has tested positive for coronavirus.

The positive test takes the number of East Lothian schools to have recorded positive tests to five: the others are Knox Academy, Musselburgh Grammar School, Preston Lodge High School and Preston Tower Primary School.

Willie French, headteacher at Haddington Primary School, and NHS Lothian got in touch with parents and carers at the school this afternoon (Tuesday).

No further details, such as the age or gender of the pupil, have been revealed.

The letter to parents and carers notes: “We are aware of a pupil in the school who has tested positive for Covid-19.

“We have been working closely with NHS Lothian Health Protection Team and following all national guidance.

“Our risk assessment is now complete and no pupil or staff contacts have been identified.

“The school remains open and your child should continue to attend school if they remain well.
