AN EAST Linton teenager will have to pay compensation to a bus driver after breaking his glasses when he struck the man to the head.
Dillon Stein got into an altercation with bus driver Shaun Butt at Spott Road in Dunbar in September 2018.
During the incident, Stein lashed out and struck the driver to the head, causing his glasses to break.
The 18-year-old appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday, where Sheriff Roderick Flinn was told that Stein was just 16 at the time of the offence but turned 18 in June this year.
Solicitor Mark Harrower said that Mr Butt’s glasses cost £315 and his client was willing to pay for their replacement.
Mr Harrower said that Stein had recently gained employment but would take some time to save up to pay any compensation.
Sheriff Flinn deferred sentence for Stein to save the required amount and told him to come back to court in March next year.
Stein pleaded guilty to assaulting Shaun Butt, in the course of his employment as a bus driver, at Spott Road, Dunbar, on September 15, 2018.
