A MUSSELBURGH man who assaulted his partner by pushing her and causing her to fall into a cooker will be sentenced next month.

Mark Cormack, of New Street, assaulted the woman at an address at Preston Crescent, Prestonpans, in July.

Cormack, 41, pushed the woman who injured herself when she fell into the kitchen appliance.

He also behaved aggressively at the house and refused to leave the woman’s home when requested to do so.

Cormack had admitted the two offences during an appearance in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on July 27 in front of Sheriff Robert Fife. He returned to the court last Monday for sentencing but was told the sheriff was unavailable and sentence was again deferred for him to appear in front of Sheriff Fife.

Cormack was also told to attend a Caledonian Men’s Programme assessment before returning to court on October 12.

Cormack pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman at a home at Preston Crescent, Prestonpans, on July 24.

He also admitted behaving aggressively and refusing to leave the property on the same date.

A not guilty plea to possessing a quantity of cannabis was accepted by the Crown.
