A NORTH Berwick tourist attraction makes an appearance in the latest series of a Scottish food and drink show this evening (Thursday).
Chef Nick Nairn, who runs four restaurants, two cookery schools and has one Michelin star, and presenter Dougie Vipond, of Landward and Sportscene, visited the Firth of Forth Lobster Hatchery, based at North Berwick Harbour, as part of the second series of their TV show The Great Food Guys.
The lobster hatchery rears juvenile lobsters from the larvae hatched from local female lobster stock. It then nurtures the juveniles through their most vulnerable stages until they can be released into the sea.
Although it was forced to delay its summer opening due to lockdown, the hatchery’s education container was reopened in July.
The hatchery’s production container, however, has remained closed to the public as Covid-19 meant it was unable to perform its usual duties.
As well as reporting from the lobster hatchery, Dougie and Nick visited the town in the Landward van for the show, tempting local residents with some of their dishes.
This marks the second time East Lothian has appeared in the show, with Phantassie Food near East Linton and some North Berwick residents featuring in the show’s first episode in July.
This latest episode, the seventh in an eight-part series, is shown this evening at 8pm on the BBC Scotland channel and on Saturday at 11.30am on BBC One.
The series was filmed last year, before lockdown.
