A BUILDING which was home to a Haddington butcher for more than 50 years is on the market.

Colin Peat’s former shop at 3 Court Street and the neighbouring 7 Court Street, which is home to the Deli Box, are for sale for £175,000.

According to estate agents Graham+Sibbald: “The subjects comprise two adjacent but separate units lying on the ground floor of a two storey and attic, mid-terraced stone-built property held under a pitched timber mansard roof.

“Internally, No. 3 Court Street offers front and back shop areas with a chill room and WC situated in the rear.

“Internally No. 7 Court Street comprises of a self-contained retail unit trading as a cafe, comprising a single room and WC situated to the rear.”

Mr Peat retired from the business at the end of May, having worked in the premises since 1969.

He took over the running of the shop from his dad, also Colin, who passed away in July 1986.
