AN AWARD has been presented to a long-standing member of Longniddry and District Rotary Club.

Keith Forrester has been a member of the village group for more than 25 years and received a sapphire Paul Harris Fellowship Award last week.

Mr Forrester, who worked as a physics teacher in Midlothian, was pleased to receive the award.

He told the Courier: “It is always nice to be recognised by your fellow members.”

The 69-year-old was president of the club in 2014/15 and has been heavily involved in a number of projects.

That includes the creation of music competitions for both primary and secondary school aged pupils.

He added: “When I was club president, we had a cycle to North Berwick and back in support of prostate cancer charities.”

The meeting last week saw president Eileen Morrison welcoming new member Gordon Blain to the club and also handing over the presidency to Tom Shearer.

Mr Shearer has been involved in the Rotary movement for 40 years, since his initial involvement as the founder president of the Rotary Club of Livingston.
