NORTH Berwick Youth Project has continued to provide services supporting young people during the Covid-19 pandemic, by taking its work online.

It runs daily challenges for young people through its ‘Zoom Youth Club’.

Challenges, set at noon, are completed by youngsters who then return for a feedback meeting later in the afternoon.

The winner of each challenge is sent a prize.

One parent said: “The online work you are doing is so much appreciated and my daughter loves it.

“She particularly enjoys and looks forward to receiving the prizes and you can tell there is thought that goes into this – I cannot thank you enough.”

North Berwick Youth Project also hosts a P7 meeting every lunchtime Monday to Thursday, free yoga, a Netflix party and an activity evening, such as a quiz night, once a week.

Another parent said: “I think it’s been amazing that the children have had the chance to stay in touch, doing something that’s been interactive and fun.

“Socialising digitally is so important right now to help their mental health.

“I want to teach my child that following the lockdown rules doesn’t have to be boring. It can be made fun without breaking it.”

The youth project’s disability group continues to meet every Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, and its mental health worker is also available to support young people.

It also continues to work with North Berwick High School, providing support.

Lauren Cowie, project manager at North Berwick Youth Project, said: “We are delighted that we have been able to stay open, and with the response from the young people and their parents and carers.

“However, we always want to reach more young people, so anyone who thinks their child would enjoy or benefit from our services can contact me or our mental health worker, Martin.”
