RESIDENTS in Musselburgh are being invited to share their gardening efforts as part of a new competition – ‘Going Strong in Lockdown.’
The local horticultural society has cancelled its planned events, including its annual flower show in August, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, members are hoping people will share images of their gardens, plants, vegetables, craft items and favourite recipes in a competition during the next few months.
Eve Dickinson, the society’s acting vice president, said: “During these difficult times, Musselburgh Horticultural Society thought that it would be fun for the local community to share images of their gardens, plants, vegetables and craft items, and to share favourite recipes.
“All its events are cancelled over the next few months.
“The competition will allow people to share and enjoy each other’s lockdown efforts in the garden and the home.
“The competition will run until the end of August and the society looks forward to seeing everyone’s wonderful photographs and trying out some delicious recipes.”
The most popular photographs will be displayed by the society at a future date.
The person with the overall most popular photograph will win a £30 gift voucher for Strawberry Corner garden centre.
To take part, go to the society’s website at musselburghhorticulture.org.uk and upload photographs and recipes.
Alternatively, image files can be sent via email to Musselburghhorticulturalsociety@hotmail.com.
Participants can submit one photograph in each category each month.
