CONCERN has been raised about youngsters seen jumping on and off a fishing boat at Fisherrow harbour during the Covid-19 lockdown.
A post on social media claimed there was some damage to the vessel and its ropes were let loose, as a result of which it drifted into the middle of the harbour.
It was claimed that this was the third incident involving fishing boats in the harbour.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.35pm on Monday, May 11, police in Musselburgh received a report of teenagers jumping into the water at Fisherrow harbour.
“Officers attended the area but there was no trace of anyone and suitable advice was given to the caller.
“Especially in these current times, we continue to urge people to stay home and not act in any way which potentially risks adding further strain on emergency services.”
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council commented: “We have been made aware of the situation and the council is picking this up with partners, including police, the Fisherrow Harbour & Seafront Association and community wardens. We will investigate further the potential of CCTV.”
She added: “The mobile CCTV van takes regular patrols in this area and will continue to do so.
“Anyone witnessing antisocial behaviour is asked to contact the police or the council’s 24-hour antisocial behaviour helpline on 01875 824 307.”
