NORTH Berwick residents had a different form of bird take to the skies last Thursday (May 7).
An RAF plane was circling around the town and flew along the East Lothian coastline at about 3,000 feet between 5pm and 6pm.
An RAF spokesman confirmed to the Courier that the flight was part of essential training.
He said: “An RAF C-17 Globemaster from RAF Brize Norton was completing routine operational training including approaches at Edinburgh last Thursday.”
The flight was described as “necessary” and “routine”, it was not connected with the RAF’s support to the national fight against coronavirus.
It was one of several RAF planes that have taken to the skies recently as part of training.
