RESIDENTS of a care home in Musselburgh celebrated the anniversary of VE Day on Friday by making a video of themselves singing along to Over The Rainbow.

The two-minute video, which saw Eskgreen care home residents joining in the song while waving Union Jacks and holding pictures of rainbows reduced some viewers on Facebook to tears.

And it ends with a message from staff to everyone to continue staying home and saving lives.

The care home posted photographs over the Easter holidays with the same message to people.

And on Friday as residents celebrated VE Day they compiled the video as they sang along to the song made famous by Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz.

It was shared by East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership on their Facebook page and moved viewers with one saying "that brought a tear, so lovely" and another adding "love it, I'm welling up watching it."

Eskgreen is a council-run facility and one of several currently being considered in a review which could see it replaced by extra-care housing.
