A TOTAL of 76 people have died from coronavirus in Scotland, an increase of 16 in the past 24 hours.
The figure was announced by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at the Scottish Parliament earlier today (Wednesday).
She added that the confirmed number of cases of the virus, also called Covid-19, in Scotland has risen by 317 overnight, bringing the total to 2,310, and 1,153 patients with the virus are currently being treated in hospital.
It is not yet known how many of the confirmed new cases are in the Lothian area.
The region’s current number of cases currently stands at 269, the figure is updated at 2pm every day.
The First Minister said that she expects the increase in the number of cases “to continue for a further two or three weeks at least”.
