SECURITY advice for businesses and venues that are currently closed due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak has been issued by police.
Local officers will also be conducting enhanced security patrols and checks during their shifts during this period.
Police advise business owners to:
- Test their alarm to ensure it is monitored and fully operational.
- Test and review their CCTV to ensure it works, provides good-quality images and is in a position that covers as wide an area as possible.
- Don’t keep any cash on site overnight or store it in a safe that is bolted to the floor.
- Identify any vulnerable areas, fix them and ensure all security gates and doors are secured, closed and locked when not in use.
- Produce a list of key holders who can be contacted in times of emergency, ensuring contact details for staff are up to date.
- Consider moving high-value items to secured stockrooms, out of view.
- Ensure keys to the building or other venues are not left inside and are with dedicated key holders instead.
- Consider timer switches or ensure sufficient lighting is left on.
- Make sure there are no combustible materials left around the surrounding of the building
