ANOTHER case of coronavirus has been confirmed in the Lothian area this afternoon (Wednesday), bringing the regions total to eight.
The individual is one of nine new cases across Scotland in the past 24 hours, with the country’s total now standing at 36.
This is the biggest jump of coronavirus cases, also called COVID-19, in 24 hours in Scotland since the first case was confirmed in Tayside on March 1.
This afternoon two new cases were confirmed in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, two in the Borders, two in Ayrshire and Arran, one in Lanarkshire and one in Tayside.
Lothian has the highest number of cases in the whole of Scotland, next is Grampian with six.
As with all cases, details of where the infected people are from has not been released by the Scottish Government.
A total of 2,316 people in Scotland have been tested for the virus, 2,280 tests came back negative.
