A MUSSELBURGH man caught in possession of indecent images of children on a computer has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
Ewan Logan was found with a quantity of digital photographs depicting the sexual abuse of children.
Police officers arrived at his home address with a search warrant after officers had received intelligence that the illegal images had been downloaded.
Logan, 30, had previously appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to admit his guilt and returned to the dock last Thursday for sentencing.
Sheriff Robert Weir spared Logan a custodial sentence and instead handed him a stringent community-based order.
Logan will have to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the community and has been placed on two years of supervision.
He was also put on the sex offenders’ register for the next two years.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of permitting to be taken or making indecent photographs of children at his home address between January 23, 2016, and September 7, 2018.
