THE eastbound section of the A198 dual carriageway at Longniddry will be closed from Monday to Friday for three consecutive weeks in January for road repair works.
It will be closed from Seton Gardens to Longniddry from Monday, January 13 to Friday, January 17; Monday, January 20 to Friday, January 24; and Monday, January 27 to Friday, January 31.
Each closure is expected to begin at 8am on each Monday, finishing at 5pm on the Friday of the week. Eastbound traffic will be diverted via Cockenzie and Port Seton and the coast road; westbound traffic will not be affected while access to Seton Mains will be maintained.
Temporary traffic lights may be installed at the junction of Cockenzie’s East Lorimer Place/Edinburgh Road to aid traffic flow.
An East Lothian Council spokesman said: “We are planning to carry out carriageway repair works on the eastbound side of the A198 dual carriageway approaching Longniddry. In the interests of safety, it is necessary to close the eastbound carriageway. A diversion will be put in place via the B6371 and B1348. If required, traffic management will be put in place to assist with traffic flow.”
