THE average selling price of a home has increased year on year in North Berwick, Tranent and Musselburgh – but decreased in Dunbar, Haddington and Prestonpans.

From September to November 2019, the average selling price of a home in East Lothian was £259,106 – a 6.4 per cent increase on the same period last year, says property company ESPC.

The volume of sales was down 3.7 per cent year on year and the median selling time was 26 days – one day faster than last year.

The average selling price of properties by individual towns was:

  • North Berwick: £294,113 – up 10 per cent;
  • Dunbar: £229,667 – down 13.8 per cent;
  • Haddington: £212,227 – down 11.6 per cent;
  • Tranent: £200,749 – up 9.5 per cent;
  • Musselburgh: £192,804 – up 4 per cent;
  • Prestonpans: £187,413 – down 1.8 per cent.

Claire Flynn from ESPC said: “The East Lothian property market continues to stay strong.However, we can see that East Lothian is made up of a patchwork of property markets, with average selling prices rising in some areas and decreasing in others.”
