HISTORIC Musselburgh ice cream business Di Rollo is up for sale.

The 120-year-old business has a shop on Bridge Street and ice cream factory on South Street.

But the owners of the business, which was established in 1899 and has been in the Di Rollo family ever since, will soon be retiring and are hoping that someone will take on the business.

Independent Scottish chartered surveyor Graham + Sibbald is acting on behalf of the ice cream manufacturer and wholesaler around the sale of the business.

Di Rollo supplies a large selection of flavoured ice cream to many restaurants, cafes, hotels, catering companies and retail outlets across East Lothian and Edinburgh.

The business includes a purpose-built production facility and the premises covers over 5,000 square feet.

Graham + Sibbald say that the facility complies with all the latest EU directives and is capable of producing over 300 litres of ice cream an hour.

Suzanne Lawrie, business valuer at Graham + Sibbald, said: “Di Rollo Ice Cream is a much loved, successful regional business with a fantastic customer base.

"As a third-generation, family-run business, the current owners are planning their retirement and this underpins the decision to sell.

"We see this as an excellent opportunity to expand the business.”
