MUSSELBURGH Racecourse has been awarded an additional fixture due to recent abandonments at other racecourses including Ayr and Hamilton.

The new fixture on Tuesday will bring down the curtain on the East Lothian track’s Flat season and admission tickets are priced at £10 for the six-card meeting, with the first race off at 2.05pm.

Musselburgh is also racing on Monday, with a seven-race care featuring prize money of £62,000, and the first race is off at 1.20pm.

Local racehorse owner Gerry McGladery is expected to be well represented at both meetings as he looks to claim the Musselburgh 2019 Edinburgh Gin Owners’ Championship to add to his 2018-19 jumps season title.

Locked at the top of the table on four wins a piece with Middleham Park Racing & Partner, Edinburgh-based Gerry said: “Everybody knows how proud I was to reach that achievement over jumps and it would be great to also get the Flat award. Musselburgh is my local course and all my trainers know how much I love having runners here.”

In the race for the trainers' championship, Carluke-based Keith Dalgleish is sitting on 13 winners, three clear of Richard Fahey, with Mark Johnson and Iain Jardine back in third on six winners each.

It remains all to play in the jockeys’ title race, with Joe Fanning still leading the way on nine winners, just one ahead of Sean Davis and Graham Lee.

David Allan is on seven while fellow Ayrshire-born Danny Tudhope leapt up onto the six winner mark following a double at Musselburgh’s last meeting a fortnight ago.
