A BID has been launched to install CCTV cameras at North Berwick Harbour in light of several incidents of theft and antisocial behaviour.
Installing the cameras is aimed at improving safety and security for the harbour’s visitors, users and boat owners.
There have been several incidents in recent months, with one harbour user reporting having their out-boat engine stolen. Another boat was released from its moor, while a fishing vessel was boarded without permission.
Installing the new cameras will bring the harbour in line with others in the county such as Dunbar and Port Seton.
Bill Roberts, secretary and harbour manager of North Berwick Harbour Trust Association, said: “The cameras are industry standard high-resolution cameras.
“North Berwick Harbour Trust Association encourages owners and users to report incidents directly to the police.”
