TWO Musselburgh residents are celebrating scooping a cash prize of £30,000 each this week thanks to their lucky postcode.

The Stoneyhill Crescent neighbours netted the windfall when EH21 6TD was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Tuesday.

The prize was won as part of a special summer campaign where a lucky postcode will be announced as a winner of the £30K prize every day. All the players in that postcode then pick up a cheque worth £30K for every ticket that they play with.

The duo were the only people playing with the winning postcode, and chose to remain anonymous, but had any of their neighbours been playing then they too would have picked up a cheque for £30,000.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson sent his congratulations, saying: “I couldn’t be more thrilled for the lucky Musselburgh pair picking up a prize today.

“I was lucky enough to spend the day in the town and got to enjoy an ice cream from the famous Luca’s, as well as visit Newhailes House, which is just minutes along the road from our winners and run by National Trust for Scotland - an organisation that’s been awarded £723,000 in funding raised by players.

“With People’s Postcode Lottery good causes win too and it’s great to see that, no matter where you go in the country, you’re never far from an organisation that’s benefitted from the support of our players.”

With a minimum of 32 per cent from ticket sales going directly to charities, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £450 million to date for thousands of projects across Great Britain and internationally.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Depaul which has received over £7.2 million thanks to player support.

This funding is enabling the charity to tackle both the immediate and long-term effects of homelessness, helping it provide safe and stable futures for people who get left behind by society.
