TWO county teenagers have been ordered to be of good behaviour after admitting resetting a stolen off-road motorbike.
Liam Quinn, of Tranent Mains Cottages, and Jay Turner, of North Grange Avenue, Prestonpans, were seen pushing the KTM off-roader along Salters Road in Wallyford in December 2017.
The £600 bike had been stolen previously from a garage attached to a house. The pair claimed they had bought the bike for £150 from an unknown person and were unaware it was stolen.
Defence solicitor Angela Craig said that her client, 18-year-old Quinn, had “fully co-operated” with police and he claimed at the time the pair had found the bike in a ditch six days previously.
Kenneth Cloggie, defending solicitor for Turner, also 18, told the court the two teenagers were no longer friends following their arrest.
Both men pleaded guilty to resetting the KTM off-road motorbike on December 4, 2017, when they appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday.
Sheriff John Cook told them he was deferring sentence for six months for them “to show this was a one-off and just gross stupidity”.
