SHOPPERS can pick up a free frozen fizzy drink in Musselburgh on Saturday.

Skwishee is launching at Pinkie Farm Convenience Store.

A free Skwishee is on offer 1-3pm for anyone who brings a piece of plastic for recycling.

Small pieces of domestic plastic can be handed in such as bottles and food containers, not large donations.

A spokesman said: “We’re looking at various ways of reducing the amount of plastic usage for our frozen drinks range. We’re absolutely committed to minimising our environmental impact.

"Consequently, we have already introduced edible straws in a variety of fruit flavours and these have become very popular. We will assess the popularity of this and other initiatives before deciding on our next step."

A spokesman for the store added: "We’re delighted to be involved with Skwishee in this campaign and we look forward to recycling a huge amount of plastic this weekend."
