A MUSSELBURGH woman who held a knife to the throat of her grandmother and robbed her is facing a jail sentence.

Danielle Bennett assaulted her 85-year-old relative and robbed her of £180 at an address in Tranent earlier this year.

Bennett, 33, was found to have held the serrated edge of the blade against the OAP’s neck and uttered threats of violence during the incident.

The attacker appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday, where she pleaded guilty.

Sheriff Frank Crowe remanded Bennett in custody and deferred sentence for reports to next month.

Bennett admitted assaulting her grandmother, aged 85, by holding a knife to her throat and robbing her of £180 in cash at an address in Tranent on March 18.
