WORK to turn a busy Tranent street into a one-way system is finally to get under way.
Calls have been made for several years for changes to be made to New Row, which links Elphinstone Road and Bridge Street.
Frustrations have repeatedly been aired about drivers parking on both sides of the road, leaving little room for vehicles to pass.
Work is due to begin today (Monday) to turn the road into a one-way system, only allowing vehicles to travel from east to west.
A spokeswoman for East Lothian Council said the work would take about a week.
