A SECTION of one of the busiest roads in Hallhill, Dunbar, has closed for two weeks from today (Monday).

Drainage works are being carried out on a 35-metre section of Brodie Road, to the west of the junction with Steadings Crescent.

The works mean a lengthy diversion, with drivers advised to turn on to Yosemite Park, the U191, the A1 and then Spott Road. The roadworks are due to finish on March 3.

A spokeswoman for East Lothian Council said: “The works are undertaken by Advance Construction on behalf of Persimmons. The drainage works require extensive excavation and therefore traffic cannot be maintained safely.

“The road closure has been put in place at the request of Advance Construction and it was their responsibility to do a letter drop to inform residents. Additionally, advance information signage was put up at the location on Friday, an advert was in the Courier on Thursday, the notice has been on TellMeScotland since the beginning of February where all the council information is notified, and Dunbar Community Council put up the legal document on Facebook.”
