STRONG winds are expected to hit East Lothian on Friday as the Met Office issued a weather warning for the county.

The Met Office's yellow 'be aware' warning covers the period from 3am on Friday until the end of the day, with gusts of 60-70mph possible.

The Met Office warns there is the potential for power cuts and travel disruption in some areas, with the strong winds likely to affect the whole of Scotland and the north of England.

Although the Met Office is unsure at the moment about which areas are likely to have the strongest winds, it warns that the weather has the potential of a 'medium' impact, the second highest on its scale.

As well as the strong winds, moderate rain is expected to fall in the county throughout the day.
