A COCKENZIE resident will have to spend the next 60 nights at home after he admitted an assault.
Stephen Ritchie, of High Street, assaulted a woman – who has not been named – by striking her to the head with his hand during a bust-up at an address in Musselburgh.
During the incident, it was also found that Ritchie had breached a non-harassment order that had been handed down to him at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last December.
The offender had been ordered not to contact the woman or enter the town’s The Promenade following a previous incident between the pair.
But the 46-year-old broke the court order by turning up at the street and approaching the woman on September 28.
It was during this incident that Ritchie assaulted the woman.
Sheriff Nigel Ross sentenced Ritchie to a restriction of liberty order, which means he must spend the next 60 days between 8pm and 6am within his home address.
