EMERGENCY services were called out on Saturday evening following reports of a missing woman in Dunbar.
Lifeboat crews in the town were joined by Coastguard teams from Dunbar and North Berwick, as well as police officers, following a call at about 9pm.
UK Coastguard paged for both the inshore (ILB) and all-weather (ALB) lifeboats, which featured 17-year-old Dunbar school boy Kieran Fairbairn – Scotland’s youngest RNLI lifeboat volunteer – on his first call, to launch shortly after 9.15pm to join in the search near Dunbar Golf Course.
However, just as Coastguard and RNLI crews were commencing their searches, they received word that the woman had been found safe and well.
A spokesman for North Berwick Coastguard said: “Our teams are trained to search large areas of coastline and also further inland as part of a varied skill set including water, flood, rope and mud rescue and immediate casualty care.”
