MORE than 300 homes went without energy after a power cut in North Berwick and Gullane today (Friday).

Residents first noticed a loss of electricity at 11.50am and reports of the length of disruption varied between homes.

By shortly after noon most power supplies had been restored, with some homes having been cut off for up to 20 minutes.

A ScottishPower Energy Networks spokeswoman said the cause of the power cut was an “overhead network fault”.

She said that between 300 and 400 homes were affected, but ScottishPower did not expect a recurrence of the fault.

The spokeswoman added: “We’d like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused by this overhead network fault.”
