A KEY route in and out of Port Seton will be closed for most of October as emergency road repairs takes place.
The B6371 Coal Road - north of Meadowmill roundabout to Alder Road roundabout - is now shut. It has suffered from carriageway subsidence.
The suggested diversion is west through Prestonpans: along Bankton Terrace, Gardiner Terrace, Station Road, West Loan, Ayres Wind, High Street and Edinburgh Road.
A council spokesperson said: "The B6371 Coal Plant Road will be closed for three weeks to allow repairs to be carried out on an area of subsidence.
"The Coal Authority is undertaking works to address the subsidence and restore the road. A signed diversion route is in place throughout."
