CANNABIS has been seized from seven people after concerns about drug use were passed on to the police by members of the public.
Officers recovered "personal amounts" of the drug on Friday evening after searches were carried out in Pencaitland and Tranent.
Chief Inspector Steven Duncan, Area Commander for East Lothian, said, "These seizures were a direct result of officers being pro-active across the county and targeting areas where the public had concerns about drug misuse.
"Although the amounts recovered were relatively small, it shows that officers will take action against any person they suspect to be in possession of illegal substances.
"We are committed to tackling all forms of drug crime within East Lothian and rely on the community to provide us with information and intelligence.
"I would urge anyone with concerns about drug offences in their community to contact Police Scotland on 101, or report this anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
