A CARAVAN was set on fire while it was parked in a car park in Prestonpans.
Police are describing the fire as suspicious and are appealing for witnesses.
The incident happened at about 6.45pm last Thursday within a car park near Lidl and the town's sailing club, beside the John Muir Way.
A caravan was set alight and sustained significant damage, though, thankfully no one was injured.
Anyone with information is asked to come forward.
Sergeant Crawford Laing from Musselburgh Police Station said: "The caravan was unoccupied at this time and so fortunately there were no casualties as a result of this fire.
"Nevertheless, we are treating this matter very seriously and would urge anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on Thursday evening to contact police immediately.
"Similarly, if you can help us identify those responsible, then please also get in touch."
