A PERSON has died after being hit by a train near Drem.

The Edinburgh-bound train was stopped just to the west of Drem after the incident. Police were managing traffic on the road beside the line.
A statement from British Transport Police said: "At 12.06pm today we were called to reports that a person had been struck by a train near Drem Railway Station.
"Officers are currently on scene alongside paramedics; however a person has sadly been pronounced dead.
"Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their next of kin."
Trains between Edinburgh and North Berwick started and terminated at Prestonpans for a few hours following the incident, with replacement buses taking passengers the rest of the way.
UPDATE: Train services between Edinburgh and #NorthBerwick are returning to normal but some services will still be terminated at and started back from Prestonpans.

However, services have now returned to normal.
