SOME rail commuters travelling on the North Berwick-Edinburgh line were left stranded this morning (Monday).
Passengers waiting to board the Edinburgh-bound 8.22am service at Musselburgh were left behind, with the train unable to accomodate all the passengers waiting at the station.
Those who did make it onto the train were forced to cram into carriages, with up to 70 reported as standing in one carriage alone.
Today's incident is not the first time commuters have been turned away from the 8.22am Musselburgh train, as this has happened on several occasions over the past year due to overcrowded trains.

Eric McDonald was among those affected, and he tweeted: "@ScotRail customers left behind at Musselburgh again today on 0822 due to failed earlier train.
"70+ standing in this carriage. Seems pointless to build 2nd car park at Longniddry when insufficient train capacity!"
Others also took to social media to voice their frustration at the situation.
@ScotRail Musselburgh train to Edinburgh too full to board AGAIN this morning with next train 50 minutes away. Cost of season pass versus service/ reliability just not worth it anymore. Time for a change

.@ScotRail Musselburgh-Waverley first train of the day/week 10/15 minutes late again. 100% record so far this year.

@ScotRail what’s going on with the train from Musselburgh to Waverley which was meant to arrive ten minutes ago? Not been moving for a wee while.

ScotRail responded to Mr McDonald's tweet, saying: "We're bringing a brand new fleet of longer trains to the North Berwick route later this year."
However, Mr McDonald said that was "no consolation" for passengers affected this morning.
