A CHRISTMAS wreath was stolen from outside a florist in Tranent just one week after it opened.
Floral Ambitions, which has two stores in Edinburgh, opened on Winton Place last week and placed its designer creations outside the shop on display.
But staff were stunned when a man grabbed one of the wreaths and ran off on Monday at about 4.35pm.
Shop owner Rachel Ross said she had been shocked by the brazen theft. She said: “The girl in the shop saw the man outside and was about to go out and offer assistance when he took the wreath and made off.
“It was really upsetting but has not put us off. We just have to bring everything in as it begins to get dark outside and make sure items outside are secured.”
The thief was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and beanie hat.
Call police on 101 with information, quoting incident number 2679 of December 4.
