A MUSSELBURGH woman has been evicted from her council home after a string of incidents allegedly involving drug use, noise and a fire.

Collette Kerr, 45, was removed from her home on Eskside West by a court order.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told that East Lothian Council had raised concerns about alleged incidents involving fire at the property, drug use, hypodermic needles and bloody tissues in the common stair well, as well as neighbour homes allegedly being flooded after needles were disposed of improperly.

They also raised concerns about allegations of noise from Ms Kerr's property, visitors forcing open the stairwell door, shouting and screaming in the stairwell and neighbours being verbally abused.

East Lothian Council said that the eviction came on top of an Interim Antisocial Behaviour Order (ASBO) granted against Ms Kerr in May of last year, adding that, as reports of Ms Kerr and her visitors behaving antisocially continued to be received, the council was left with no option but to seek an eviction order.

A council spokesperson said: "This was a particularly serious antisocial behaviour case.

"Interventions aimed at getting Ms Kerr to modify her behaviour had no effect.

"In cases such as this, the council has no other option but to seek eviction.

"Anti-social behaviour that impacts on neighbours and communities will not be tolerated."
