KIND-hearted Lorraine Bennett raised £1,000 to help fight childhood cancer after shaving her head for charity.

Lorraine, from Prestonpans, was inspired to fundraise after witnessing her partner Billy’s grandaughter’s fight with leukaemia.

Casey-Leigh was just four years old when she was diagnosed with the condition two years ago and has undergone extensive treatment.

Lorraine decided to raise the money for Children with Cancer and Leukaemia Advice and Support for Parents (CCLASP).

She said: “My partner and I were all devastated in May 2013 to find out his granddaughter Casey-Leigh had been diagnosed with leukemia.

“Since then, despite her sometimes gruelling treatment, she has remained a happy, carefree little girl who is an inspiration to us all.

“She and her parents have benefited greatly from the support of CCLASP over this time.

“CCLASP helps families of diagnosed children express and share with each other the feelings, anxieties and horror of having a child with a life-threatening illness. CCLASP supports in excess of 500 families and is able to access much-needed resources for the sick child and their family, whether that would be transport to hospital, a holiday, or a special wish.

“Casey is six and her treatment is still ongoing but the future is looking bright; we feel blessed. In the words of CCLASP’s founder: ‘Every day is a privilege’.” Lorraine had her extreme haircut at Longniddry Royal British Legion last Friday night in front of friends and family.

She raised an amazing £934.23, which Billy has rounded up to £1,000 for the charity.
