North Berwick High School has welcomed a member of the Welsh Assembly to the school.
Huw Lewis, minister for education and skills, was joined by Owen Evans, director general for education and skills, at North Berwick High, where they were met by Sally Stewart, East Lothian’s HMI area lead officer, and David Scott, the quality improvement officer.
They met teachers, parents and pupils, as well as cluster primary school headteachers, and discussed the key principles of Curriculum for Excellence, assessment and moderation, and the transition between primary and secondary school, among a range of issues.
Lauren Rodger, headteacher, said: “The team was visiting Scotland to explore some of the key issues around the Scottish curriculum development journey in order to learn from our experiences.
“I am very proud North Berwick was chosen as the only Scottish secondary school to be visited.
“The Welsh visitors were very impressed with the warm welcome they received and with the quality of the discussion. In particular, they complimented our pupils, describing them as polite, engaged, articulate and insightful.”
