THIRTEEN venues will play host to the Dunbar Traditional Music Festival later this month.

Scottish, folk, jazz and blues music will fill the air, with the event kicking off next Friday (September 26).

Director of music Johnny Stewart was looking forward to another memorable four days.

He said: “I’m up to my armpits in the festival at the moment.

“This is the time when the festival is fast approaching and you are hoping everything is in place and is right.” One of the highlights of the annual festival is the Fish Supper Ceilidh at the Bleachingfield Centre, with tickets £10 for adults and £6 for under-16s.

The event gets under way at 7.30pm and will last until midnight.

Adriano’s Central Cafe will be providing the fish supper, with music on the night from The West Telferton Caledonian Scottish Dance Band. Tickets are available from committee members and Tippencanoe.

West Barns Inn, Masons Arms, The Rocks, Eden Hotel, Bleachingfield Centre, Volunteer Arms, Royal British Legion, Eagle Inn, Black Bull, Dunbar Parish Church Hall, Royal Mackintosh Hotel, Hillside Hotel and Dunbar Bowling Club will all play host to various events between next Friday and Monday.

The toe-tapping fun starts next Friday at 8.30pm in the Eagle Inn, Black Bull, Dunbar Bowling Club, Hillside Hotel, The Eden Hotel, Masons Arms, West Barns Inn and Royal Mackintosh Hotel.

Performances run on until 11.30pm before it all gets under way again the following day.

Budding Scottish, folk, jazz and blues musicians of the future get their chance to develop their sound with a children’s workshop on the Saturday.

The two-and-a-half-hour session is held by NE3 Folk at Dunbar Parish Church Hall and starts at 1.30pm. Children should bring their own instruments.

There is also an open mic and acoustic session held in the Royal Mackintosh Hotel from 2pm to 5pm.

Then, at night, music from acts such as Rocka Hillbillies, Guy Heath, Bluebelly, Slainte M’Hath, Andrew Gordon, Curmudgeon, Watchtone, NE3 Folk and Ben Church will fill a number of venues.

On the Sunday, it is another action-packed day of music, with Slainte M’hath again performing, as well as acts such as Guy Heath and Watchtone.

And the event wraps up for another year next Monday afternoon with The Monday Chaser, featuring the Rubbered Band at the Royal Mackintosh Hotel.

The event is now in its 26th year, sponsored by Belhaven Best, and is still going strong.
