WATSONIANS claimed victory at Haddington 7s for the third time in four years on Saturday.

The Capital club stormed through a pool that included Preston Lodge, Hamilton and Boroughmuir, who were captained by ex-Haddington scrum-half Jack Hamilton.

Muir made it to the semi-finals, where they were beaten by Rhodri Thomas' Haddington side.

The Reds had come through a pool that featured TryUmph, coached by ex-Scotland centre Marcus Di Rollo, Ross High, and Musselburgh, who like Muir, finished in second place and made it to the last four.

The men from the Honest Toun were beaten by the eventual winners in the last four.

And in the final, Haddington produced a spirited display but were unable to stop the BT Premiership outfit taking the title.

Victory added to their successes of 2015 and 2016 capped a good day for the Myreside men, who also won Melrose 7s for the 10th time in their history.

Meanwhile, 7s action rolls on to North Berwick on Saturday.
