THREE rugby starlets from East Lothian were involved in the annual East vs West encounter at BT Murrayfield.

Scotland Women 7s internationalist Liz Musgrove was joined in the East side by Sula Callender, from Pencaitland, and Musselburgh’s Sarah McCormack for the match.

Both Musgrove, a former North Berwick High School pupil, and ex-Ross High pupil Callender were try scorers as the East side won 65-21, the former helping herself to a first-half hat-trick.

The first of her treble opened the scoring before the West hit back to level the scores. Musgrove then scored two more tries to complete her hat-trick, while East scored two more tries.

The East side did not relent in the second half and Musgrove crossed for her fourth try early in the second half, while Callender was among several others to get on the scoresheet.

Callender, who plays her club rugby for Murrayfield Wanderers Ladies, was delighted to be involved in the match.

She told Courier Sport: “It was a really fun game to be part of. It’s always great playing alongside such experienced players and was good to get the win against a strong West team.”

Club-mate McCormack, who made her injury comeback in the match, added: “I fractured my leg in October so it was tough going.

“It was a pleasure to get invited to these games and always better when you are on the winning side.”
