RACING ace Lewis Rollo made a good start to his season in the British Superbike Superstock 1000 meeting at Donington Park.

Rollo, from Gifford, started from the back of the grid for the first half of a new two-part endurance format on Saturday.

He performed superbly, though, and made his way through to 26th, before benefitting from improving weather conditions to finish in 13th place overall.

The teenager then returned 24 hours later and was placed 17th on the grid.

He made his way through to 11th place, finishing 16 seconds behind the winner.

The Superstock 1000 class is littered with Isle of Man TT winners and is ultra-competitive, so 11th in his debut meeting bodes well for good results in the forthcoming race season.

He was congratulated by Prestonpans boxer Josh Taylor on social media.

Taylor posted on Twitter: “Massive congrats to my young pal Lewis Rollo on finishing 11th in his first ever BSB superstock 1000 meeting yesterday. The only way is up.”

Rollo will be back in action at Brands Hatch later this month.
