THE Melville Motorcycle Club hosts the next two rounds of the Scottish ACU Championships, as well as the much-fought-over club championships at East Fortune this weekend.

A good grid of sidecars is promised and will include ex-world champion Tim Reeves' passenger, Patrick Farrance, who will be partnering Andy Laidlow, Andy and Patrick having re-formed their partnership for this weekend as a special tribute to sidecar racer Andrew Couper, who recently passed away.

Haddington's Team Reywood driver, David Wrinn, has Stuart Clark back in the chair and the very popular team from the NEMCRC club, Phil Bell and Tony Belsey, will make the journey north.

On Saturday the Jim Silver Trophy sidecar race will take place, with the inaugural handicap race for the Andrew Couper Memorial Trophy being raced for on Sunday - both races carry healthy prize funds.

Current Scottish Superbike Championship leader Torquil Paterson will be looking to extend his lead but will have a battle on his hands with Andrew Tasker back racing, having recovered from previous injury.

County riders out in force include Gifford's talented 14-year-old racer Lewis Rollo, currently at the top of the Scottish Lightweight Championship, and Haddington's Paul McClung, who leads the 600 Superstock championship; both will be hoping to increase their points tally. North Berwick's husband-and-wife duo Kaye and Mark Hewins will be back after a short break from racing.

Resident commentary team ex-sidecar racer Mose Hutchinson and Ian Robertson will keep spectators informed and amused with their extensive knowledge of motorcycle racing with their usual banter and anecdotes in between races.

Bikes will be on circuit both days from 9am, for what promises to be an action-packed weekend programme. Practice and qualifying takes place tomorrow (Saturday) morning, with racing after lunch and from around 10.30am on Sunday.

Adult admission is 10, senior citizens and accompanied children under 16-years of age are admitted free of charge and the paddock is open for everyone.
