COUNTY golf starlets competed in the inaugural Scottish Junior Team Golf Championships.

Junior league winners from all over Scotland travelled to Glenbervie Golf Club to take part, with Craigielaw flying the East Lothian flag.

Despite their best efforts, the title went to Craigmillar Park, winners of the Edinburgh Junior League.

They finished 14 points ahead of Alloa Golf Club, while the Craigielaw youngsters, winners of the East Lothian Junior League, were tied in third place with Kilmarnock Barassie.

The winning team were awarded a trophy donated by Ian Howarth, past president of the Scottish Golf Union, and each player received a commemorative medal.

R&A donated golf shirts, flags, and balls from this year’s Open Championship to the top four teams.

The idea for the tournament came from a few individuals in East Lothian, while David Warren, secretary of the East Lothian Junior Golf League, was tournament director.

He was delighted with the event but is hopeful of securing sponsorship for next year’s competition.
