FIVE different competitions involving five East Lothian teams are played this afternoon (Saturday).

Tranent Juniors wrap up their debut Scottish Lowland Football League season when they welcome Civil Service Strollers (3pm) to Foresters Park.

Meanwhile, Musselburgh Athletic and Dunbar United are both involved in league business.

In the top flight of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL), Musselburgh head to Fife to face Crossgates Primrose while Dunbar also venture over the Forth as they take on Burntisland Shipyard in the First Division.

Haddington Athletic and Ormiston Primrose have cup ties to look forward to, with Preston Athletic the odd team out.

The Hi Hi head to Lochore Welfare in the third round of the League Cup while Ormiston welcome Dunipace at the same stage of the King Cup.

All the EoSFL games are 2.30pm kick offs.

Match of the Day

Burntisland Shipyard v Dunbar United

East of Scotland Football League First Division

Dunbar United last five games: WWLLL

THE only game in the First Division offers Kevin Haynes and his team the chance to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Six points separate the Seasiders and second placed Glenrothes in the race for the league title.

Victory will edge Dunbar closer to an immediate return to the top flight of the EoSFL.

However, they are up against a Recreation Park side who are boosted by a stunning 4-0 triumph over Kirkcaldy and Dysart on Wednesday.

Tranent Juniors last five games: DLLDW

THE curtain comes down on what has to go down as an impressive debut season in the fifth tier for Tranent Juniors.

Promoted from the EoSFL last season, Colin Nish’s team were involved in the battle for the league title until the final few weeks.

Now, they wrap up their campaign against Civil Service Strollers at Foresters Park.

Guaranteed a fifth place finish, they welcome the capital club, who will be looking to ensure Bo’ness United do not leapfrog them in the final standings.

Crossgates Primrose v Musselburgh Athletic

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Musselburgh Athletic last five games: DWLWD

THIRD placed Musselburgh make the trip to Fife looking to dent the ambitions of Crossgates Primrose.

The hosts could move above the Honest Toun side with victories in their games in hand.

However, Liam Burns and his team will be out to ensure they finish the campaign as high up the table as possible.

Third place looks the best they can achieve and they will be looking to reverse the 4-2 defeat from the opening day of the season.

Lochore Welfare v Haddington Athletic

League Cup Third Round

Haddington Athletic last five games: DWWDL

RELEGATION-THREATENED Lochore Welfare will be out to cause a surprise when they welcome Haddington Athletic this afternoon.

The Central Park side can put their First Division relegation fears to one side as they contest a third round tie in the League Cup.

Haddington make the trip having only played their hosts on three previous occasions – with the last coming in 2005.

Lochore will be buoyed by another recent cup win when they knocked high-flying Whitburn out of the King Cup.

Ormiston Primrose v Dunipace

King Cup Third Round

Ormiston Primrose last five games: LLDLL

THE battle to ensure Second Division football at New Recreation Park next season is sidelined as Ormiston contest an unexpected cup tie.

Hawick Royal Albert appeared to have ended Ormiston’s King Cup campaign for another season when they won a penalty shootout last month.

However, the Borders side were found to have fielded an ineligible player, which opened the door for Richie Weir’s men to be reinstated.

Their reward is a home tie against a Dunipace side who are battling for promotion to the top tier of the EoSFL.
