AN ALL-East Lothian clash kicks off a busy weekend of football for the county’s sides.

Musselburgh Athletic host Haddington Athletic this evening (Friday) as both teams battle to climb the Premier Division.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Dunbar United, Preston Athletic and Ormiston Primrose all have home contests to look forward to.

The Seasiders host a Kirkcaldy and Dysart side who were surprise winners in Fife the last time the two sides met.

Meanwhile, Preston will be looking to finish the season in style and put a dent in Glenrothes’ bid for the First Division title.

Finally, Tweedmouth Rangers make the trip to New Recreation Park.

Tonight’s contest kicks off at 7.45pm, with each of the games on Saturday starting at 2.30pm.

Match of the Day

Musselburgh Athletic v Haddington Athletic

East of Scotland Football League Premier Division

Musselburgh Athletic last five games: LWWLW

Haddington Athletic last five games: LWWWW

GROUNDHOP Day proved a miserable experience for East Lothian’s sides on the pitch last weekend.

Musselburgh Athletic lost out at home to Broxburn Athletic while Haddington’s winning run was ended by Dundonald Bluebell.

Both county sides will now be looking to get back to winning ways when they meet at Olivebank.

Three points separate the two sides in fourth and fifth in the table, although Liam Burns and his team do have two games in hand.

A win for Haddington would pull them level with their hosts while Musselburgh would go above Jeanfield Swifts with a victory.

ANOTHER side who lost out on Groundhop Day were Dunbar United, who slipped to defeat against Coldstream.

The Seasiders are going through a sticky patch of form with three defeats in their last four games.

They remain top of the table and in the driving seat when it comes to promotion but they will be keen to get back on track as soon as possible.

Kirkcaldy and Dysart are one of the teams to have beaten them this season, with a 4-0 triumph in Fife.

Now, Kevin Haynes and his men will be out to finish the season strongly to secure promotion.

Preston Athletic v Glenrothes

Preston Athletic last five games: LLWWL

A TOP half finish remains firmly on the cards for Preston Athletic, who retain an outside chance of promotion.

A strong run of form until the end of the season will be needed for the Panners to finish in the top three.

They welcome a Glenrothes side who are currently in the promotion places and they could also go top of the standings if they win their games in hand.

Victory for the Pennypit side would be a real statement and hopefully be the start of a memorable end to the season.

Ormiston Primrose v Tweedmouth Rangers

East of Scotland Football League Second Division

Ormiston Primrose last five games: LLDDD

FIVE points adrift of safety, Ormiston Primrose need to start catching Craigroyston and the teams above them to have any chance of avoiding relegation.

Richie Weir’s men have four games in hand over their rivals but would prefer points on the board.

Tweedmouth Rangers, a team who have struggled in recent years, are the visitors to New Recreation Park.

The Borders side sit eighth in the standings and the hosts will need to be at their best to pick up any valuable points.
