MUSSELBURGH, Haddington and North Berwick all secured wins in this weekend’s round of rugby fixtures as Preston Lodge, Ross High and Dunbar lost out.

In the Tennent’s Premiership, Musselburgh secured an important 20-32 win over Selkirk on Saturday. After going 15-0 down early in the first half Craig Owenson, James Ferguson and Neil McNairn all scored tries to give Musselburgh a 15-21 half-time lead. Owenson was again heavily involved in the second half as Musselburgh rallied to win 20-32 and secure five crucial points.

Despite the win Musselburgh remain bottom of the table and six points behind second bottom Heriot’s Blues Men. They face eighth placed Jed-Forest at home on Saturday.

In the Tennent’s National League Division Two, Preston Lodge were narrowly beaten 36-40 at home to Glasgow Academicals.

The hosts were chasing the game throughout and found themselves 7-33 down at half-time.

And despite a late rally in the second half, Preston Lodge could not fix the damage inflicted on them in the opening 40 minutes and narrowly lost out 36-40.

Preston Lodge sit fifth in the table and next face second bottom Boroughmuir away from home on Saturday.

In the Tennent’s East Region League Division One, Haddington secured a 43-26 home win against Portobello. The win takes Haddington to fifth in the table and they next face Leith who sit six points behind them in seventh place at home on Saturday.

North Berwick were victorious over fellow county side Ross High in a tight affair which ended 17-10.

It was a close encounter between the two top sides in the division but a valuable win for North Berwick who stretched their lead at the top of the table to ten points.

North Berwick face eighth placed Portobello at home on Saturday while Ross High travel to third placed Linlithgow at the same time.

In the Tennent’s East Region League Division Two, Dunbar were comfortably beaten 0-30 at home to Langholm.

League leaders Langholm looked comfortable throughout as they put the county side to the sword.

Dunbar remain second bottom in the table and face another difficult fixture away to second placed Corstorphine on Saturday.
