THERE were wins for Tranent Juniors, Haddington Athletic, Dunbar United and Preston Athletic on Saturday as all six county football sides went unbeaten in league action.
Tranent Juniors pulled off a spectacular comeback in the Scottish Lowland League as they beat Hearts B 3-2 at home.
Hearts B took the lead on 27 minutes through Leon Watson before Rocco Friel doubled the lead ten minutes later to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at the break.
Adam McGowan pulled a goal back for Tranent on 68 minutes with a powerful effort before Kieran Sommerville made it 2-2 just seven minutes later with a high and looping header.
Tranent Juniors' tails were up and they got the winner five minutes later thanks to Nicky Reid who tapped home from close range following a corner.
Colin Nish's men sit fourth in the table and face a home game against Cumbernauld Colts tomorrow (Tuesday) with kick-off at 7.45pm.
In the East of Scotland Premier Division, a Guy McGarry hat-trick helped a ten-man Haddington Athletic secure an impressive 3-1 away win against Vale of Leithen.
McGarry’s tame effort squeezed past the home goalkeeper on 23 minutes before the hosts equalised just eight minutes later.
Things got worse for Haddington before half-time as Zach Szemis was sent off for an altercation with an opposing player following a nasty challenge.
Despite being a man, down McGarry put the visitors back in front with 19 minutes left to play with an impressive strike from the edge of the box.
And he completed his hat-trick in added time, tapping home following Ethan Williams’ well saved shot.
The win puts the Hi His ninth in the table and they face a tough home game against fifth placed Penicuik Athletic on Saturday.
Musselburgh Athletic were held to a 1-1 draw by Penicuik away from home.
The hosts took the lead 25 minutes in through Reece Hope and held that lead until half-time.
Musselburgh Athletic came out fighting in the second half equalising on 55 minutes through Liall Smith.
Both sides had chances but the scores finished level.
Musselburgh sit sixth in the table and face bottom of the table Vale of Leithen on Saturday.
In the First Division, Dunbar United overcame Newtongrange Star 3-1 away from home.
Cammy Dawson put Dunbar United in front with six minutes to play in the first half before Bob Berry doubled the lead just after half-time.
Darren Handling looked to have wrapped the game up on 52 minutes as the visitors continued to assert their dominance in the game.
A penalty goal from Liam McIntosh with nine minutes to play reduced the deficit but it was a comfortable win in the end for Dunbar.
Dunbar United remain top of the table and face eighth placed Leith Athletic at home on Saturday.
Preston Athletic also secured a 3-1 away win over Whitehill Welfare.
Mikey Hamilton put Preston Athletic in front early on in the game before the hosts were reduced to ten men.
Bobby Wilson saw red for an argument with the referee.
Despite being a man light, Whitehill fought back to equalise through Steven Thomson but the scores were not level long as Jamie Devlin restored the Preston Athletic lead just before half-time.
Steph McCole made it 3-1 in the second half as Preston held out for a crucial win.
The win takes them to seventh in the table and they face fourth placed Newtongrange Star at home on Saturday.
In the Second Division, Ormiston Primrose got a point on the board with a 2-2 home draw against Easthouses Lily.
Following three successive defeats, the home side were in need of a change in form but did not make things easy for themselves as the visitors took the lead just a minute in.
Sean Ballard drew Ormiston level on 27 minutes with a well-placed header from close range to give the home fans something to cheer.
It was the visitors who again went in front however on 60 minutes but the drama was far from over as Ormiston went in search of an equaliser again.
And with nine minutes to play, Jay Murray popped up to equalise once more tapping home at the near post and securing a valuable point for Ormiston.
Ormiston are second bottom in the league, three points clear of bottom placed Hawick Royal Albert United.
They face 14th placed Craigroyston away from home on Saturday.
