MORE than 60 golfers teed off in blustery conditions in the Musselburgh Amateur Championship over the town’s historic Old Course.

They competed for four trophies at the event.

The winners were: Kenneth Glen, 2022 Musselburgh amateur champion; Sue Jeffery, ladies’ champion; Paul Marshall, handicap champion; and Peter Millar, seniors’ champion.

Jackie Lambert, from the organising committee, thanked all golfers for their efforts on “a typical Scottish day weather wise”.

He also thanked East Lothian Council for its support and Musselburgh Old Course Golf Club for hosting the event. He said that the success of the event moving forward should ensure another good turnout for next year’s event – the 100th playing of the tournament, at Musselburgh Golf Club on September 30.

Councillor Andy Forrest, ward member and depute provost, said that it was great to see the level of support from the golf clubs, ensuring this long-standing competition continued to be played for.
